Why Soy?
Soy wax is a "greener" choice for candles. It comes from the soybean plant. Soy wax is chemical and petroleum free, biodegradable and water soluble. By using soy candles you are supporting American soybean farmers and making a healthier choice.
What's wrong with paraffin candles? I've been using them for years!
In a nutshell, paraffin is what big candle companies use because it is cheap to produce.
The definition of paraffin is : a fuel oil: a mixture of liquid hydrocarbons obtained from petroleum and used as a domestic heating fuel and as fuel for aircraft.
Paraffin candles emit 11 harmful gases (according to the American Lung Association) two of which are known carcinogens, benzene and toluene. Paraffin also releases black soot which can stain furniture and walls.
Why did you start making soy candles?
I started making soy candles wanting the best for my family and friends. We wanted the quiet ambiance of a candle but did not like breathing in the harmful, smoky, petroleum oil of paraffin wax. We wanted a candle that was eco-friendly and did not use fossil fuels in the process. We also did not want to use products that harm our dwindling bee population (i.e. beeswax).
After some research I began to develop a candle, made of ecologically-sound, biodegradable, American-grown soy wax. I added scents reminiscent of Cape Cod and asked friends what scents they enjoy. The result was a creamy, white, nearly smokeless candle! Amazingly, those with allergies were not affected by soy candles as they were with paraffin candles. I will never use a paraffin candle again, yuck!
When you purchase a Cape Cod Soy Candle you can be assured that each candle is hand-poured with love and with reverence for our environment. Each candle is dye-free and is safe for you, your pets and the earth. We truly believe we have made the perfect candle and can't wait to share it with you. Enjoy!
